Day 1:  Rode NT1A

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

Still one of my 'Go to' mics! If you are just starting out, this is great value. Versatile, low noise, and great quality! Good for vocals, acoustic guitar, and most other things you point it at.

Day 2:  Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core

TH | US | CA | AU

This is the main audio interface I use every day. 26x32, high quality pre-amps, onboard DSP FX, Thunderbolt and USB, versatile routing. This has been rock solid for me, and a joy to use!

Day 3:  Gretsch G5420TG Limited Edition

Probably my favourite rite of  the electric guitars I own. It's hard to explain the unique feel of a Gretsch - but its addictive! Mine is in Cadillac Green, and a limited edition. If you see a used one - grab it!

Day 4:  Sennheiser HD280 Pro

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

These were my first 'Studio' headphones, and I'd still recommend them if you are on a budget. Especially good for tracking because of their great lack of 'bleed'.

Day 5:  Sonarworks SoundID Reference

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

Every room will alter the way studio monitors sound. I use this mic, with the speaker and headphone software, to help counteract the affects of my room, to hear mixes more accurately.

Day 6:  Vox V847-A

SW | TH | US | UK | AU

When I wanna wah, I wah with this! A rock solid classic :)

Day 7:  Rode NT5 (Matched Pair)

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

When I bought these years ago, it transformed my acoustic guitar recordings. Compared to a large diaphragm condenser, these small diaphragms bring sparkle and clarity.

Day 8:  ART Voice Channel Tube Channel Strip

SW | TH | USCA | AU

There are just so many things to love about this channel strip. Affordable, great quality, great features. And it just adds a little something yummy!

Day 9:  Komplete Kontrol S61 Mk2

SW | TH | US | CA | AU

I haven't had this very long, but so far I'm super impressed! It's especially useful if you are using Komplete software/instruments. Great browsing, and pretty decent DAW control.

Day 10:  Taylor 210ce Plus

SW | TH | CA

This guitar hangs on the wall in my studio, and is what I grab when I'm writing, and trying ideas out. I chose this over some much more expensive guitars I tried on the same day. Just wonderful!

Day 11:  AKG K240 Studio Headphones

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

These are still some of the most comfortable open back headphones I own - because they are so light. Great for long sessions, but take care with the low end!

Day 12:  sE Electronics X1

SW | TH | US | UK | CA | AU

One of my favorite mics. This is a great mic as an alternative to the Rode NT1A, if you find that a little harsh in the high end.

Note: This model is discontinued so an alternative is linked.

Day 13:  Thalia Capo

THALIA

I bought this because I have a few guitars with different neck radiuses. These capos come with a supply of rubber inserts for each one - no more buzzes on recordings!

Day 14:  Sony MDR-7506

SW | TH | US | CA | AU

I probably don't mention these classics enough! Good sound, isolation, comfort, and price. That's why so see them everywhere!

Day 15:  ART Headamp 6 Pro

SW | TH | US | UK

I use this for multiple headphone outputs and mixes. Great quality and versatile. Very happy with this!

Day 16:  Adam Audio T8Vs

SW | TH | US | CA | AU

I came from KRKs to these, and it was a big step up! Balanced and true, but I especially love the tweeters. Low fatigue, low distortion - love em!

Day 17:  Tama Mic Stands

SW | US| UK | CA | AU

I learned the hard way that budget mic stands are a false economy. They will have parts that break, and invariably droop. These days, I always tend to go for Tama mic stands - worth that little bit extra!

Day 18:  JZ Black Hole 2

TH

This a great quality mic, and a bit different. Sounds especially good on female vocals IMHO. JZ like to take bold risks, and this paid off!

Day 19:  Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer

SW | TH | US | CA | AU

When I wanna add a bit of grit before I hit the actual tubes, I use this - as do many others! Love this little green meanie :)

Day 20:  Audient ASP800

SW | TH | USCA | AU

One of my favorite pieces of gear. This preamp instantly adds 8 pristine extra channels to your interface via ADAT. A couple of them also nicely coloured!

Day 21:  t.bone SC 450

TH

When I think of budget microphones that impressed - THIS one is the first to mind. For the price - outstanding!

Day 22:  Taylor 214ce-N

SW | TH

This nylon string guitar is one of my absolute favorites, although you hardly ever see it on screen. Not a 'classical', but a hybrid, with a cutaway, low action, and a truss rod! Much loved!
